SQUARES & TAJUT

Udine is a cultured and convivial city at the same time, full of bookshops and osterias. It was the medieval capital of the "Patria del Friuli" (homeland of Friuli), characterized by a very ancient history. Walking through the many squares in the center, you can visit the museums inside the castle, the Tiepolo Galleries, where you can admire masterpieces of the Venetian painter, and the modern art gallery at Casa Cavazzini. From the splendid Piazza Libertà, with its typical architecture of the Republic of Venice, through medieval alleys and picturesque canals, you can reach Piazza Matteotti, the town’s “drawing room”, where the locals love to stop for a "tajut" (a glass of red or white wine), the typical protagonist of the evening aperitif.
Finally, among the many historic osterias and restaurants, you will have the opportunity to taste the rich local food and wine.
