Just a few steps from Borgo Terra: nature to explore and silence to be heard
It will take just ten minutes from our village to find a world suspended in time where storks dance in the sky and ibis walks among the reeds. Here in the middle of the "Quadris" reserve nature has reconquered what men once transformed.
In the eighteenth century, the extraction of clay has shaped the landscape: the pools left by man's work filled with rainwater created a grid of pools that gave rise to the name "Quadris". Today, the place has come back to life thanks to a project of reintroduction of the white stork, which began in the late 1980s and has become a point of reference for migratory birds.
To immerse yourself in this enchanting atmosfere, we recommend you a visit.
A small turquoise body of water nestled between the mountains, where the silence is broken only by the flapping of the wings of the griffon vultures. Lake Cornino is a glacial jewel, born from ancient landslides and today protected by a nature reserve of almost 500 hectares.
Crossed by the majestic Tagliamento River, the area is home to extraordinary biodiversity. This is where the Grifone Project was born, which has allowed these birds of prey to find a home in Friuli. Thanks to the paths suitable for everyone, you can walk between heaven and earth, following the flight of the great gliding birds.
12,000 years old, the lake of Ragogna is the last remaining glacial basin in the region, a silent oasis that reflects the clouds and holds secrets from times gone by.
With its elliptical shape and calm waters, the lake is home to the rare “water chestnut” along with water lilies, buttercups and an incredible variety of migratory and resident birds. Not far away, the Israeli cemetery tells stories of past lives, with graves dating back to 1742.
Sport fishing is practiced here – including carp fishing – and it is an ideal place for birdwatching enthusiasts.
Recommended in spring and autumn
There is a place, hidden in the woods of Cimano, where the water "sings" between the rocks and two waterfalls draw arabesques of light in the greenery: it is the Biotope of the Falling Water, a naturalistic pearl with an almost tropical feel.
The path to reach it is short – just 15 minutes of walking – but it offers an intense experience, made up of scents, colours and freshness.
Perfect for a bike ride along the
Collinbici itinerary, maybe starting from the romantic Fagagna Castle.
At the reception you can book everything you need: bikes, helmets and even bike trailers for the little ones.
